December 17-21, 2007

Tech Byte: Add flair to your Word documents!

Add a Watermark

Watermarks are subtle graphic or text backgrounds that can be used to enhance your letters and memos, similar to stationary. In addition, watermarks can be used to :

§         Make a document more interesting when used appropriately.

§         Identify a document’s status, such as "Draft" or "Confidential."

§        Add a logo, slogan, etc.

  1. On the Format menu, point to Background, and then click Printed Watermark

  1. Do one of the following:

§         To insert a picture as a watermark, click Picture Watermark, and then click Select Picture. Select the picture you want, and then click Insert.

§         To insert a text watermark, click Text Watermark, and then select or enter the text that you want.

  1. Select any additional options that you want, click Apply, and then click Close

Note: A watermark is only viewable in a document from Print Layout view and when actually printed. To view watermarks in the background while you are working on your document, select Print Layout from the View menu.
