A recent study by the College Board revealed that business leaders place a very high value on how their employees communicate both in written and verbal form. For this assignment, I want you to read selections from this report, which is found online, and complete the following assignment.

bullet

First, access the report online by clicking on this link: Writing: A Ticket to Work...Or a Ticket Out.  (Note: This is a PDF file, so it may take a few minutes to download.)

After you have accessed the report, read the "Summary" on pages 3-4 and the "Introduction" on page 5.

bullet

After you have read these selections and made notes for yourself, I would like the following students to read and focus on these specific selections:

Kevin, Kendra, and Tibbs--"How Important Is Writing in the Workplace?"

                 pages 7-8

Cornelius, Dustin, and Ramone--"Is Writing an Important Hiring

                 Consideration?" pages 9-10

Mike, Janine, and Noah--"What Kind of Writing Is Expected on the Job

                Today?" pages 11-12

Kelvin, Phyllis, and Latoya--"Do Employees Have the Writing Skills

                Employers Seek?" pages 13-14

Jamie and Ken--"Is Writing a Promotion Criterion?" pages 15-16

Mayra and Jonathan--"Do American Companies Provide Writing Training? If

So, What Does It Cost?" pages 17-18
