Length: 6 in.
Weight: 20-25 g
Forest invertebrates
Typically one brood per year, 3-6 eggs per clutch, female chooses nest site, builds the nest and incubates eggs; incubation about 12-14 days and young leave the nest in a little over a week; common cowbird host throughout its breeding range.
At least 7 years
Some killed from collisions with buildings and other structures during migration. Forest fragmentation may limit successful breeding, especially when nests are near edge. Loss of wintering habitat may prove to be the biggest problem for this species in the future.
