Hello everyone,
My name is formally
Dr. Shirley Todd McLaughlin, CLU, ChFC. Please call me Shirley! I
look forward to working with you and plan to enjoy the experience.
Now I will tell you a bit about myself. I have been a financial
consultant for over 25 years, having owned my own business for 15 of
those years and after selling it decided to work in the corporate
world. I have worked for the last 10 years in this corporate
environment moving three times when I simply got an offer I could
not refuse. My last move was to Raleigh, NC in 1998 and I have been
here since. I was recruited to come here and work with an affiliate
of a Fortune 500 financial services firm. When our unit sold, I
decided to try consulting and have been fortunate to continue to
work in the financial services industry. I work in several areas,
depending on the situation: marketing, client relations, recruiting
and development.
Educationally I
have a BA from UNCG, MSM from Rollins College, and a DBA from Nova
Southeastern University. I am a Chartered Live Underwriter and
Certified Financial Consultant, both are credentials in the
financial services industry. I have been teaching as an adjunct at
various colleges for years. I love working with adults who have
decided to go back to college to either finish their undergraduate
degree or get their MBA. I started a few years ago working in the
online environment and have been really amazed at the unbelievable
growth in this educational delivery.
When I am not doing
the above I train for triathlons and distance running. I compete
when I can and I am usually competitive in my age group. My idea of
a good time is a 50 mile ride in the mountains or a marathon or
triathlon that I bring home a trophy.
